Stephen Huneck

Pam Wasserman, owner and creator of Good Dog! Gallery, relocated to the beautiful seacoast village of Rockport, Massachusetts in 2003, after residing in Woodstock, Vermont for 20 years, where she managed the Stephen Huneck Gallery. Pam handled the day to day business of gallery operations, as well as playing a major role in marketing, promotion and wholesale accounts.

Pam arrived in Rockport to open a gallery of her own, with nothing but a selection of Huneck artwork, then expanded her inventory to include hundreds of dog and cat related gifts and art for dog-lovers and a wide selection of dog clothing, collars, leashes and gourmet treats. Good Dog! Gallery represents numorous, talented animal artists, maintaining Stephen Huneck as her feature artist. "Stephen is a very well-known and recognizable award winning animal artist and New York Times best selling author. People love and collect his art! Dog lovers and their dogs love Stephen and Stephen loves dogs!"

Stephen Huneck's home and studio are in St. Johnsbury, Vermont which he shares with his wife, Gwen and his three dogs. Stephen works in his private studio attached to their house. "I am a hand-carver. I love the texture you can only get by hand."

In 1994 Stephen suffered from Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome after falling down a flight of stairs which left him in a coma for two months. The doctors were not hopeful but with the help of his wife, Gwen, Stephen had a full recovery. He had to relearn everything from how to walk to how to sign his name. Just before the accident, Stephen was inspired to do a series of woodcut prints based on his dog "Sally." After waking up from the coma, Stephen immediately began work on those woodcuts. The first woodcut he carved was "Life Is A Ball" celebrating his new found life.

'Friendship' Giclee Print
Giclee Prints
Giclee (pronounced "jhee-clay") is a French term meaning the "spraying of ink". It describes a technologically advanced way of producing fine art with the use of a sophisticated Giclée printer, using archival ink and paper. Giclees are the finest method or art reproduction available today.
Color matching requires a high level of skill and several steps, overseen by the artist.

Many contemporary artists and galleries produce Giclees. Museums have exhibited Giclees and include them in their permanent collections. The Giclee process is a marriage between art and science. Because of the care taken and the quality of the materials used in the process of a Giclee, many people cannot tell the difference between the original and the Giclee. This advancement in printing allows us to offer Stephen's original woodcuts at a great price and in a variety of sizes.
